Everspace 2: Edge Of The Universe Guide (2024)

Everspace 2 is an open-world space exploration and combat game that sometimes requires fixing things or gathering resources for upgrades or to sell. Early on in the story, you will meet Dax, and he will teach the player how to mine resources and scavenge in the early game while showing them the ropes. He will ask you early on to repair some "bean bags" which hide the signal of your home base from anyone looking. He has them spread around the area and needs you to go fix them since if the base isn't hidden you don't have long until people come looking for you.

Edge of the Universe is the first quest in Everspace 2 that unleashes you into the game's open world and gives you the freedom to explore anything that catches your eye. You have three different destinations to jump between, but there are plenty of unexplored things to stop at along the way should you choose to. This is where your first moments of freedom are to explore the game world so here is a guide to ensure you get the most gear possible as you move through the early game.

Rhodia Orbit

The closest bean bag to your home base is in this system, which makes this a great place to start your repair mission. There are some better weapons for you to find in the surrounding wrecks for your ship as well as a Mainframe Component in the area to find while you repair the bean bag. On the rock the bean bag is planted on, wrap around it and find an area guarded by blinking red mines you can slither inside and loot a Valuable Wreck.

The two pieces you need to fix it up are in two nearby station skeletons with the second one being near an energy socket puzzle that will appear on your HUD when you get close. Head down further from the area where the second piece you need to repair the bean bag is and grab an energy ball to shoot into the socket. These don't last forever so hustle back and shoot it in if you need to. Doing that will open some doors giving you access to some better weapons.

Ceto Outer Rim

This area has the bean bag signal blinking in and out of existence which can be tricky to track. Additionally, there are a few wrecks to explore and gather resources from for upgrades, a shop to repair your ship and sell any found commodities at, and an escape pod that opens up a side quest when you download its data. Download the data from the escape pod to get the Undead Ship Side Quest and head to the shop.

Once you dock inside the shop you will have access to bounties that you can earn killing enemies in certain ways while you explore which makes it a good idea to pick up right away. Once you're done exploring and looting the area keep an eye out for the general area the quest marker blips up at and head there, it should blip every couple of seconds. Once you hone in on it and head to that location you will start to hear it chirp once you get close. Find the Hydra Anemone cluster surrounding the bean bag, and you are done here.

Union Bridge

This area starts out hot with an encounter almost immediately when you get to the area. Luckily, there is a Trading Outpost you can repair your ship at. Right under the Trading Outpost is a secure crate that you can do an energy ball puzzle to get into. It's tight timing from where you get it to where it needs to go so line up the ball to shoot it into the socket to make sure you get it before it fizzles out. Inside are some Memory Cores, and Phase Hull Plating.

Once you've done that head over to the bean bag marker and be prepared for a fight. Once you get close to the bean bag you will be ambushed. Make sure you kill the Webber before it holds you up and then finishes off the remaining Outlaws. Once you're done remove the debris and the quest is finished. You can either head back to home base from here or keep exploring and head to the nearby Undead Ship side quest.
