More than seven months ago, an employee went into a Louisville bank and killed several people. Now, LMPD says the case is closed and they are releasing all of their findings. In his first journal entry, April 3, (page 15 in the case file) a week before the shooting, he wrote about his struggles with depression and his issues with the world, like access to guns and lack of mental health care.Later on, he talks about how it is his goal to impact change around gun access: "I have decided to make an impact. These people did not deserve to die, but because I was depressed and able to buy (guns?), they are gone. Perhaps this is the impact for change -- upper class white people dying. I certainly would not have been able to do this were it more difficult to get a gun -- just called in, 45 mins, get AR-15," he wrote. The day before the shooting, he wrote, "something snapped Monday," and said he had everything planned out.On page 17 of the case file, they provided advanced findings from an examination of the shooter's brain, which showed no evidence of CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy). This was something that had been suspected early on by his parents because he had suffered concussions from sports.
