The Ford Mustang has been one of the most famous and celebrated American cars since its introduction in the 1960s. While the Mustang has adopted a number of styles over the years, one of the more distinct looks the Mustang wore came in the 1980s and early 1990s with the Fox Body style.

While the Fox Body Mustangs look quite different from their newer counterparts, they remain a well-appreciated car for the era. A New Ford Fox Body Mustang Arrives As A Restomod

Cars like the new Nissan Z sports car utilize retro-inspired styling in modern times, functioning both as a celebration of throwback design with modern features and performance. In the not-so-distant past, the Mustang itself used a throwback-inspired design for the car, a similar theme that Dodge employs on the current Challenger and Charger.

Much of the design on the restomod is a modernized version of the styling that the 1980s version of the car used. The taillights adopt an LED style, as do the headlights. The lower lights on the front of the car have a halo design, all of which take the familiar look of the Fox Body while making it look modern.

Blacked-out wheels are similar in style to those used on stock Fox Body Mustangs, further adding familiarity to the look of the car. The overall body design remains virtually unchanged from the production car, though the overall flow of the car has a wider, more curved design, an adoption of safety engineering that often makes newer cars appear much larger than cars of the past.

The gold exterior paint color and dark-tinted windows contrast sharply, along with yellow brake calipers, a color scheme that looks both modern and contemporary.

1979 Ford Mustang Pricing

1979 was the first model year of the Fox Body Mustang, and it was an instant hit.
