Find what recycling and waste services are offered in your county. Always properly recycle when able, and properly dispose of other non-recycleable materials. It is important to note that each county offers different recycling and waste services.

Carson City

Waste & Recycling: Waste Management provides weekly MSW collection and bi-weekly curbside recycling and green waste collection.

Household Hazardous Waste & Special Wastes: The Carson City Landfill offers residents free household hazardous waste collection services every Thursday afternoon between 1:30 and 4:00 p.m., by appointment only.

Churchill County

Waste & Recycling: Haulers include Olcese Waste Services and Tumbleweed Garbage Disposal, and they provide weekly MSW curbside pickup. The City of Fallon provides weekly MSW pickup within the city limits. The Fallon Transfer Station, operated by Waste Management, has community drop-off recycling bins located at 2900 Enterprise Way, Fallon, NV 89406.

Household Hazardous Waste & Special Wastes: Russell Pass Landfill will accept HHW with advanced notification. The landfill has a dedicated area to household waste oil and batteries.

Clark County

Boulder City:

Waste & Recycling: Boulder City Disposal provides weekly MSW pickup and curbside recycling. Curbside recycling collects paper, plastic, metal, and glass.

Household Hazardous Waste: HHW drop off is offered at the Boulder City Landfill for paint, pesticides, oven cleaners, pool chemicals, other chemicals, solvents, aerosol cans with leftover paint, pesticides, or oven cleaner.

Las Vegas/Henderson:

Waste & Recycling: Republic Services provides weekly MSW pickup and curbside recycling. Curbside recycling collects paper, cardboard, metal cans, plastic bottles, and jugs.

Household Hazardous Waste: Republic Services maintains a HHW collection service at two locations – one in North Las Vegas and another in Henderson. The locations are open Wednesday to Saturday, but with a rotating schedule between the two locations. Additionally, there is a pre-paid sharps mail-back program.

University of Nevada, Las Vegas:

Offers a drive up, drop off recycling location for faculty, students, and the community.

Laughlin:

Waste & Recycling: Republic Services provides weekly MSW pickup and curbside recycling.

Mesquite:

Waste & Recycling: Virgin Valley Disposal provides weekly MSW pickup as well as curbside recycling once per month. Curbside recycling collects aluminum/metal cans and newspaper. Additionally, there are 24/7 recycling drop off points at Smiths and Walmart Parking lots, which will take aluminum cans, plastic milk jugs/ plastic water bottles, newspaper and corrugated cardboard.

Household Hazardous Waste: Residents can take their HHW to the City of Mesquite Landfill.

Rural Clark County:

Waste & Recycling: Outlying rural areas of Clark County are serviced by Republic Services. Outlying areas also have access to convenience centers (Searchlight – 3 days/week; Moapa –1x/month; Mt Charleston – 1x/month; Sandy Valley – 1x/month).

Douglas County

Waste & Recycling: Douglas County residents can utilize Douglas Disposal community collection bins or take their recycling to the Douglas County Transfer Station.

  • Douglas County: Douglas Disposal provides weekly collection of MSW.
  • Gardnerville: The Town of Gardnerville provides a weekly collection of MSW.
  • Minden: The Town of Minden provides weekly collection of MSW.

Recycling Drop-Off Locations

Douglas County Transfer Station

Hazardous Waste: HHW may be dropped off at the Douglas Transfer Station by appointment.

Elko County

Waste & Recycling: Elko Sanitation provides weekly MSW pickup and curbside recycling for Elko residents. Its commingled (singlestream) recycling service collects aluminum, steel/tin, empty aerosol cans, boxes, cardboard, paperboard, paper style milk cartons, plastic bottle and jugs (plastics 1-7), and plastic food tubs.

Household Hazardous Waste: HHW (such as fluorescent light bulbs, used automotive oils, used antifreeze, used gasoline, oil based paints, insecticides, and pesticides) are only accepted from non-commercial customers and are available by appointment at the Elko Regional Landfill.

Esmeralda County

Waste & Recycling: There are no waste haulers and no curbside recycling. MSW can be taken to Goldfield Sanitary Landfill.

Eureka County

Waste & Recycling: Olcese Waste Services provides weekly MSW pickup. Recyclable materials can be dropped off at Eureka County Landfill (701 S Main St) and Crescent Valley Transfer Station.

Household Hazardous Waste: No services provided.

Humboldt County

Waste & Recycling: The waste haulers include Hoss Disposal and Desert Disposal. Except for scrap metal, recycling at the Humboldt County Regional Landfill was suspended in 2019.

Household Hazardous Waste: Some local businesses collect HHW. The Humboldt County Regional Landfill offers the collection of used motor oils and batteries.

Lander County

Waste & Recycling: The waste hauler is Hoss Disposal, which provides weekly MSW pickup. Due to a loss of markets for recycled materials, recycling drop-off facilities are closed until further notice. However, scrap metal is collected and transported approximately twice a year.

Household Hazardous Waste: No services provided.

Lincoln County

Waste & Recycling: Waste can be dropped off at a public waste bin site or facility. Find locations of bins and bin site protocol on Lincoln County’s website. No recycling services are provided.

Household Hazardous Waste: No services provided.

Lyon County

Waste & Recycling: Haulers providing weekly pickup of MSW include Capital Sanitation Waste Management (Dayton), Fernley Disposal WM (Fernley and Silver Springs), and D&S Waste Disposal (Yerington). Recyclable materials can be dropped off at the Fernley Transfer Station (TS) and the Sutro-Dayton TS. Silver Springs Waste Bin accepts single-stream recycling. Sims Metal at 175 Lyon Dr. in Fernley also accepts appliances, aluminum, copper, brass, steel, and aluminum beverage cans.

Household Hazardous Waste: Used oil, Used antifreeze and car battery collection at Sutro-Dayton TS, Commercial Row TS, and Fernley TS. For Waste Management areas, customers are referred to local business partners for disposal of HHW.

Mineral County

Waste & Recycling: Hawthorne Utilities provides waste hauling for Hawthorne. Walker Lake Disposal provides dumpsters and drop box rental. Scrap metal is collected for recycling and sent off when the county has enough for a company to take it.

Household Hazardous Waste: HHW drop off is available at the Hawthorne Landfill. Used oil drums are brought to Reno for disposal. Batteries are collected for recycling by Interstate Batteries

Nye County

Amargosa Valley:

Waste & Recycling: C&S Waste Solutions provides weekly or bi-weekly pickup of MSW. Recyclables can be dropped off at Empty lot on southwest corner ofE. Mecca Rd. and S. Hwy. 373 in Amargosa Valley.Open 24 hours/7 days per week.Please help keep drop-off sites clean. Put all materials inside bins. Empty all food and liquid from containers.

Beatty:

Waste & Recycling: C&S Waste Solutions provides MSW pickup services. Central Beatty has pickup throughout the week and rural areas are bi-weekly to monthly pickup. Recyclable materials can be dropped off at the Rebel Gas Station on 102 E. Hwy. 95.

Pahrump:

Waste & Recycling: Pahrump Valley Disposal/C&S Waste Solutions offers weekly MSW curbside pickup. Residents can drop off recyclables at the Pahrump Valley Disposal (1410 E Mesquite Ave) and Wal-Mart Shopping Center on 300 S. Hwy 160. Pahrump Valley Landfill takes scrap metal and buys non-ferrous metals including vehicles, heavy equipment, appliances, iron, tin, copper, brass, and car batteries.

Household Hazardous Waste: E-waste drop off at metal yard Pahrump Valley Landfill. Sharps to be sealed in hard plastic container and placed next to garbage cart, or landfill drop off.

  • Special Waste Guide for Nye County

Pershing County

Waste & Recycling: Waste haulers include Hoss Disposal, Desert Disposal, and City of Lovelock. Weekly curbside pickup of MSW is provided. No curbside recycling service is offered. Big Meadows Recycling Center in Lovelock is a drop off location for water bottles, plastics 1 & 2, cardboard, milk jugs, tin and aluminum cans, newspaper and magazines.

Household Hazardous Waste: E-waste and used oil are NOT accepted at the county landfill. Please refer to the forms below to find the loactions that accept HHW.

Storey County

Waste & Recycling: Curbside MSW pickup is provided weekly to Virginia City residents. The Virginia City Waste Bin Site offers community drop-off recycling bins. Storey County residents are entitled to three (3) free-dump vouchers per year to use at the Virginia City Transfer Station or the Lockwood Regional Landfill. The Lockwood Landfill offers recycling of used oil, antifreeze, lead-acid batteries, corrugated cardboard, asphalt and other construction and demolition materials. Please separate these materials from your waste prior to coming to the landfill.

Household Hazardous Waste: Used oil, used antifreeze, and car battery are collected at Virginia City Transfer Station. E-waste is accepted at Lockwood Landfill.

Washoe County

Reno/Sparks/Outlying Washoe County:

Waste & Recycling: Waste Management (WM) provides weekly MSW pickup and bi-weekly curbside recycling. Single stream recycling bins are available at transfer stations for drop off.

Household Hazardous Waste: Used oil, used antifreeze and car battery collection is available at Commercial Row Transfer Station (TS), Stead TS, and Incline TS. Sharps drop off is available at Commercial Row TS.

Incline Village:

Waste & Recycling: Waste Management picks up MSW & recyclables up weekly. Pine needles are collected seasonally.

Household Hazardous Waste: Used oil, used antifreeze and car battery collection is available at Commercial Row Transfer Station (TS), Stead TS, and Incline TS. Sharps drop off is available at Commercial Row TS.

White Pine County

Waste & Recycling: Ely Disposal offers weekly MSW pickup. No recycling curbside services are provided. One drop off location is available 24/7 outside the Ely City Landfill gated area for aluminum only.

Appliances:Appliances can be dropped off at most transfer stations free of charge. There is generally a fee for appliances containing refrigerants.

Auto Fluids:Many auto parts or service stores accept used motor oil and other vehicle fluids.

Batteries:Use theCall2Recycle store locatorto see where you can recycle your rechargeablebatteries in Nevada. Single-use alkaline batteries are difficult to recycle, however, someBatteries Plusstores will recycle them for a small fee.

Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) Bulbs:All Home Depots provide free CFL bulb recycling.

Medical sharps and needles: Check out SafeNeedleDisposal.org to find Nevada collection locations.Republic Services also hasservices for medical sharps & needle disposal, as well as amail back service.

Medications:For Clark County medication disposal, anyLas Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Substationwill take expired medications. Clark County'sPain in the Drainprogram also provides safe and anonymous disposal of prescriptions and medication.Join Together Northern Nevadaalso conducts a prescription drug round up biannually. SomeWalgreenslocations have a secure bin for dropping off unwanted medications.

Mercury Thermostats: Thermostat Recycling Corporation(TRC) hasfree recycling forwhole mercury thermostats only. Find a collection site near you by visiting their website and entering your zip code.

Paint:Latex paint can be dried out (use kitty litter to speed up the drying process!). Once dry, the paint can be disposed of in the trash. Wet paint can be disposed of at household hazardous waste collections.

TV’s: MostBest Buy's will recycle for your television for a fee. Limit two TVs per household per day. Tube TVs smaller than 32"; - Flat-panel TVs; LCD, plasma, LED smaller than 50"; Portable TVs.
